The World ranked No.1 tennis player NOVAK DJOKOVIC is being held as a Political Dissident at an immigration facility in Melbourne, Australia. Despite filing the same visa paperwork as his fellow competitors in the Australian Open Tennis Championship, Djokovic has been singled out and made an example of by the Australian Federal Government. Despite early reports from the State of Victoria where the tournament is held that Djokovic had been granted a medical exemption regarding his vaccination status, government stepped in at a federal level and had him detained at Tullamarine Airport and later moved into the City of Melbourne itself.
Djokovic has travelled to Australia multiple times on the same visa and is now taking legal action against the government for their removal of the same visa this time around. Having been a great friend to Australia throughout his career, often donating large sums of money to bushfire relief funds and other charities Djokovic is said to be devastated at his current treatment. His father held a press conference to highlight the poor treatment of his Son, which includes no change of clothing and a complete loss of freedom. Welcome to the new Australian regime.
Many Australians now believe that the International Tennis Star is a threat to their safety and health. Djokovic is a Covid-19 survivor and therefore has sufficient antibodies to move around freely, as he has been doing so across the globe during the Pandemic.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison appeared to take great joy in the heavy-handed tactics being used against the sportsman and praised the Border Patrol officials.
The treatment of Djokovic is reminiscent of a story that emerged from China in 2020. A tiktok star in his twenties had amassed millions of followers and a notable amount of wealth from his social media endeavours on the Chinese created and run platform. The CCP promptly wiped his existence from the map, his social media disappeared, as did he, and the party announced that no Chinese Citizens should attempt that level of notoriety as it smacked of western values. Then again in 2021 we saw the Spanish Golfer John Rahm was pulled from a tournament in a very public fashion over Covid concerns.
The theatre of Covid-19 was always believed to be the mechanism that would be used to transform the once harmonious societies of western nations into Totalitarian Regimes, all in an effort to hide the enormous failings of those running the global financial systems, but as the measures crept in slowly many Australians still do not see the stark contrast between their lives in 2019 and today.
A small group of Serbian Australians danced around in front of the facility holding Djokovic last night. The Serbian Prime Minister is also being incredibly vocal about the mistreatment of their countries shining star. However, it is important to note that all 193 countries who are member states within the UN have accepted these measures thus far, only calling them out as unfair when it is a celebrity that is effected. True solidarity would be for all players in the Australian Open Tournament to simply leave Australia and pull out. However, unlike soccer where there is no “I” in team, this walkout seems unlikely.
What is particularly perplexing and unfortunate, is that Novak Djokovic is now in detention on the most important day of the year for Serbians. January 7th is Serbian Orthodox Christmas and the World’s no.1 was no doubt expecting to spend it preparing for the tournament he loves. – Nicola Charles
